WEP Information Technology Program: ICTRCs

Program Overview: The Information & Communication Technology Resource Centers (ICTRCs)
Program, spearheaded by Women Empowerment Pakistan (WEP), is a pioneering initiative aimed at
enhancing lifelong learning opportunities for disadvantaged youth and adults. This program provides
essential technology skills through cost-effective ICTRCs, established in educational institutions with
the support of donors and local communities.
Operational Model: Each ICTRC functions as a dual-purpose facility: as a computer lab for students
during school hours and as a Community Technology Learning Centre (CTLC) post-school hour. The
centers also offer ICT training to educators within the institution and those from nearby schools,
fostering a comprehensive learning environment.
Impact and Goals: WEP envisions these centers as catalysts for social and economic development,
empowering individuals with technical skills that can lead to transformative changes in their lives and
broader communities. By bridging the global technology divide, WEP equips people with the necessary
tools and guidance to unlock their potential.
Focus on Rural Education: The ICTRCs Program is tailored for community schools in rural areas, with
an emphasis on promoting female education. By improving access to quality education and ensuring
gender equality, the program serves as a strategic investment in the nation’s socio-economic progress.
Conclusion: WEP’s commitment to the ICTRCs Program reflects its dedication to advancing education,
enhancing skill sets, and promoting gender equity, thereby contributing to the economic and social
upliftment of rural communities.
