WEP Celebratory Events and Health Awareness Campaigns

Breastfeeding Week: Women Empowerment Pakistan (WEP) in District Kashmore conducted
sessions from August 1st to 7th, 2021, to promote breastfeeding awareness. Community
Health Supervisors (CHSs) engaged with mothers, emphasizing the importance of exclusive.

breastfeeding for the first six months. Collaborative efforts with local health facilities (RHCs,
BHUs, GDs) extended the outreach, educating patients on the benefits of breastfeeding over
artificial alternatives.
Aurat March: On March 8th, 2022, WEP-Kashmore led the Aurat March for International
Women’s Day, advocating against honour killings, domestic violence, and gender inequality.
The march, which saw significant participation, culminated in a program where speakers
addressed women’s rights issues.
Hand Washing Day: Global Handwashing Day, celebrated on October 15th, saw WEP’s active
involvement in District Mirpurkhas. The 2019 theme, “Clean Hands for All,” guided the
sessions in schools and communities, emphasizing the importance of hand hygiene and
distributing soaps to participants.
World Immunization Week: During April 24-30, 2022, WEP supported the Health Department
in District Kashmore to emphasize the significance of routine immunization. The campaign
included district-level sessions, meetings, and walks, with 40 awareness sessions reaching 360
participants, resulting in 183 individuals receiving their first dose of routine immunization.
Health Education Campaigns:
WEP leverages Information Education & Communication (IEC) materials to launch campaigns
on critical health issues like polio, hepatitis, malaria, tuberculosis, and reproductive health.
These campaigns are spread across schools and community health centers nationwide.
School-Based Interventions:
In 13 districts, WEP has implemented health & nutrition education within 29 schools,
teaching children about malnutrition prevention, deworming, hygiene, and health screening.
Community Medical Camps:
In partnership with hospitals and pharmaceutical companies, WEP has organized 216
medical camps, providing health education, screenings, and preventive care at the
grassroots level.
Special Events and Competitions:
We engage communities through healthy baby competitions and ORS awareness events,
fostering a culture of health consciousness.
Occupational Health Orientations:
WEP has held 29 sessions for workers in industries like mining and carpet manufacturing,
promoting health literacy and safer work environments.

Rehabilitation and Support: Collaborating with rehabilitation centers, WEP offers specialized
services to vulnerable children, including CSA victims and incarcerated youth, ensuring they
receive the care and support they need.
Sustainable Nutrition Projects: Our collaboration with government health departments on
CMAM projects in underserved areas is a testament to our commitment to combating acute
malnutrition among children.
Community Outreach for Nutrition: WEP’s community outreach within CMAM programs ensures
malnourished children receive timely care. Our outreach workers are essential in addressing
the root causes of malnutrition.
The 1000 Days Strategy: We emphasize the importance of nutrition in the first 1,000 days of
a child’s life to prevent stunting and its socio-economic impacts.
WEP remains steadfast in its pursuit of Health & Nutrition excellence, making significant strides
towards healthier communities and empowering the marginalized across Pakistan.
